Born on February 12, 1940 in Popayan (Cauca), son of JUAN DE LA TORRE AND SILVEIRA ALVAN VALVERDE, from an early age showed a great interest in the art of painting self-taught, supplementing his studies at the School of Fine Arts his hometown and then in Cali as he continued his studies and work with the master painter JUAN DE BURGOS, as a restorer of works of Iglesias in Popayan.

He continued his studies to know various techniques in painting and watercolor, oil, pastel, charcoal etc., Then the año1960 traveled to the city of Medellin, where he has performed over time 45 exhibitions in different cities of the country.

In Medellin, continuatrabajando, painting and exhibiting his works, some more recent exhibitions have been on the Board of Medellin, Municipality of Medellin, Palacio de la Cultura Rafael Uribe Uribe, Hotel Intercontinental, Hotel Dan Carton, and more outstanding teachers Antioquia.
